Is the US/Canada border too Strict?

June 1st 2009 marked a new era, and new way of life for Canadians and Americans who cross the border. Tighter border control was enforced, and it had a number of side effects. Already reports have claimed that there has been a loss of business for owners in Windsor. Caesars Windsor being one of them. Referring back to the Psychic Expo that took place this past weekend in Windsor, after talking to many people there who have been doing the expos for around 20 years, many say they don't bother with the United States anymore. Reasons for this is the 'too strict' border control. Many actually said that it wasn't getting into the US that was the problem, it was gaining entrance back into Canada. Send me thoughts on this to the 'TeenZ' email.

'We dont need a Government' Is this true?

After attending a seminar this weekend, the subject turned onto a political matter. And one quote was 'We don't need a Government'. If this statement is true, what would the World be like? More free? Easy to live, or at least easier? Citizens around the World only seem to give negative opinions about the Government, not just in Canada. An opinion poll this week will be placed on the 'TeenZ' website, and we encourage readers to email their thoughts to us.

Facebook is favoured Social Networking site

A recent 'TeenZ' poll presented to readers, was interested in finding out which they thought was the best, and personal favourite Social Networking website. Out of the four options given, 60% of voters favoured Facebook, with 40% voting for Twitter. Others in the poll included the slowly fading MySpace, and not so big Bebo. Each receiving no votes. This poll cannot count for the whole Worlds votes by the way. Just of the 'TeenZ Express' readers.

(Local) Psychics end a great weekend in Windsor

The annual Psychic Expo hit Windsor this weekend, and what a weekend it was. With hundreds gathering throughout the 3 day event, there was never a dull moment. International Psychics such as Maureen Collins, Charlotte Szivak, Lynda Doyle and Judy Abbott were all located under one roof, giving readings, and pulling a lot of interest from visitors. Event organizer Linda Fulcher put on a great exhibition, as locals, plus residents from across the bridge came to the Caboto Club to witness amazing people, do amazing things. Some of which have been doing it professionally for over 25 years. Other interests there were Ontario Mind reader Paul Pacific, Tony Uberoi, Enchanted Peddler and Divine Creations. After receiving a reading experience myself given by Leetabeens, I must say everything that was said, was on the dot. The Windsor Psychic Expo will be back in 2010, scheduled for January 15,16 and 17. ‘TeenZ’ will be sure to cover next years event, and urges people to spend a weekend at the Expo next year, if you didn’t this year. Its certainly worth the GREAT $8 one time admission.

(Local) Weekend Weather turns cold

Many residents of Windsor may have noticed this weekend, that the weather has changed. From last week, which was nice and warm and fit for the month of August, it has suddenly turned into grey skies and wet ground. With temperatures on Sunday dropping to a cool 23C. Plus in other areas of Canada, especially the east coast, Hurricane Bill is striking and making an entrance, causing power to go out in many places. The weather is set to stay cool at least for the next couple of days, so keep a good weather watch.

But with the current economic downfall in Windsor-Essex, how many people are turning away from it? Next weeks special report is going to find all the answers. Also, we will find out how all the local Health food businesses in Windsor have noticed a change in business since the downfall.

(Local) Construction coming to end

Since April, the core of Downtown Windsor has been a huge building site. Now, its all coming to an end. The main goal of the construction is to turn Downtown area into a more 'Green' environment. Locals seem to have adjusted to the traffic detours on Ouellette between Park and University. Neighbours from across the river arriving through the tunnel seemed to get a little confused, however its all coming to an end soon. Downtown Windsor will be fully operational again.

SPECIAL REPORT: Windsor-Beirut. Why?

Boarding now, one of the biggest airlines in the world, to Beirut. A familiar sound travellers could be hearing at Windsor Airport soon. A proposed operation between the Rose City and the Middle East could come into affect if it gets the green light. So what's the need for this service? Why to Beirut? This article will explain all.
So Mayor Eddie Francis recently barred media from the Airport, whilst meetings were taking place, discussing this operation. A direct service from a small city, population of around 230,000, to one of the main destinations of the Middle East. Confused? Well Mayor Francis noted one of the reasons for this opportunity is to help the high population of Middle Eastern residents in Michigan. Okay, why is 'Windsor's' mayor concerned about a state in another country? Now already a lot of controversy has been surrounding the Mayor, due to bad decisions and much more. Why would he want to use tax payers' money to do something that he basically said, is helping another place. The only affect its going to have on Windsor is more traffic, noise and Air pollution. 3 big negatives.
According to the Windsor Star, 3 major international airlines are already interested in operating this service. One of them being Emirates Airlines, who's operations are more seen at New York JFK, or London Heathrow. Now little old Windsor? The current proposal is around 3-4 operations per week, plus to turn YGQ into a main Air cargo hub.
Now really, could all this just be for publicity? To get Windsor in the news? For a not so huge City operations would be more appropriate to Vancouver, Calgary, or Winnipeg on the Air Canada Jazz planes, not tearing up the world by polluting the air with Air Cargo, or international flights to the other side of the world. Windsor isn't ready for that yet.

Canadian wonder woman Celine Dion is pregnant for her second child at the age of 41. Reports say the child is expected next May. Dion and her husband Rene Angelil are said to be thrilled with the news, of which the couple received on Monday.

(Local) Does Windsor have a litter problem?

Windsor is a great city, but is lacking one thing. Clean streets. Before and even after the city strike, Windsor has had a litter problem, and it doesn't matter which block you are on. Now some areas of the city are much cleaner than others. But how should a problem like this be tackled to help improve Windsor's image? Many people who live in big cities across the country, probably assume it is the city workers' job to pick up litter. However, is it really? Their job is to keep the city running smoothly and clean, therefore, yes, they pick up after people. Maybe this needs to be dealt with. Main culprits of the litter are chains such as McDonald's, Burger King, and worst of all Tim Hortons. And the funny thing is, on each cup, it states 'please do not litter'. Tougher actions need to be taken, and a wider awareness by Police or City workers may help cut down the problem.

(Money) 90 percent of bills carry cocaine

A research group in the US carried out a test and found that around 90 percent of bills in the country carry traces of cocaine. This is due to the fact that over a period of 20 months, money is moved around, given as change, used again, always by different hands, carrying different germs etc. Maybe this is an explanation of why some people are so addicted to money.

A bid for Local Businesses

Since the beginning of 'TeenZ', I have been looking at small local businesses in Windsor, which I visit and write an article about the next day. One key thing I have noticed when walking into the stores are things you see that you wouldn't always find in a major superstore. If you haven't heard of it already, there is a booklet available for free called MUG (Modern Urban Guide). In this booklet you will find stores in the Windsor area, their location, and a small information section on what the business is all about. You will be surprised at what you can find when you put your mind to it. And I'll be the first to admit, most of the businesses in the booklet I didn't even know existed. So it's very cool to walk into a place not really knowing what to expect. As for superstores such as Wal-Mart, Zellers etc...they all look the same, and sell the same. Maybe that's one reason why some people don't like going shopping? I don't know about Canada yet, but in other countries, small local businesses are dying out. Let's not make that happen here too.

(Money) Recession Affecting Health

The Canadian Medical Associations latest report claims that the current economic crisis is affecting many Canadians' health. A survey containing 4,000 Adults from across the country, noticed that due to worries about money and costs, many were cancelling dentist appointments, hospital check-ups and more. All due to financial concern. It found around 23 percent of volunteers to the survey, were losing sleep by worrying what money situation they will be in soon. After reading this information, I noticed a comment at the bottom of the screen related to this. Clearly stating that 'Its all the Governments Fault', 'Canadians are over-taxed'. I know many people will agree with these comments, and yes it's playing a huge part on the money worries that citizens of the country have. It's a guarantee that this is happening and affecting people in other countries around the world too. It would be great to get readers' opinions on this story, and send me your thoughts on what you think is the cause, and discuss your money problems.

Body found in Lake Erie

The body of a missing 52-year old man, whose boat capsized Wednesday, has been found on a Lake Erie shoreline by a passer by at 11 a.m Saturday. Previous stories, throughout the week, were posted about the man's disappearance, as two girls who were swimming in the Lake at the time noticed trouble. More details on this story can be found in The Windsor Star.

(Local) A HOT day down at the river

Locals gathered on Friday evening on Windsor's Riverfront plaza, to which is playing host to FireFest 2009. After a 2 year gap since their last visit, the all-round fun weekend attracted a large crowd for the opening day. Races were taking place throughout the afternoon, starting at 5pm with local stations competing for 'bragging rights of the year'. After that, Corporate and Media teams were taking to the spotlight, which included The Windsor Star and BiZX/In Play Magazine. By the way, the Windsor Star won. Also on site was a beer tent, popcorn stand, pizza bar and more. Plus located at the AM800 tent, for sale was the 2010 Windsor Firefighters calendar, to which all proceeds go to the 'Transition to Betterness' and 'Windsor Firefighters' charities. Am800 Radio also helped produce the calendar this year. Today is the kids fun day, so if you have not yet been down, its not too late. It will be great to see everyone back next year. Plus, the HOT Weather was quite fitting for the occasion. A nice cool day for firefighters, maybe.

(Local) Flights to Beirut Why?....

Next week I'll be starting my next special report. The topic this week is all about the proposal of direct flights between Windsor-Beirut Airports. Also, a planned meeting to turn Windsor into a major cargo hub in the future. What I am determined to find out is the local residents' feelings and opinions on this subject. Is this just another Mayor Eddie Francis decision and idea of him not knowing how to run the city? Is it a pointless waste of money for a small city like Windsor to fly internationally? Is this going to increase a noise and traffic problem for the City? All this info is going to be answered when I go out on the streets next week, and get all the answers from Windsorites.

(Local) Its not being picked up

After walking around the City yesterday, I noticed a lot of residents placing out their recyclable waste outside their homes on sidewalks. However, 4 days later, it's still there. Normal garbage was collected as hoped, but recycling is said not be be picked up fully until September, but will begin slowly in certain areas. One thing that's a problem, nobody knows when their area will be next. Maybe some notification would be nice for locals on when to expect a pick-up. The featured picture was taken on Moy ave in Walkerville.

SPECIAL REPORT: Halloween is already in major superstores across Windsor, however, are annual occasions such as this, Easter and Christmas over-rated?

Halloween, it falls every year, at the same time, but not in stores. It seems to be earlier and earlier that stores are displaying items for the annual occasions such as Halloween, Christmas and Easter. The big 3.
After a visit to a local Michaels store in Windsor, one thing I noticed right when I stepped inside, was Halloween on display. Now its just under 3 months away until the actual day, October 31st arrives. So why the early advertising? Now I don’t want to point out just one store in this, also contributing to the early displays are most other major superstores located in Canada, and I'm sure its not just in this country.
Today I received an email from a local resident in Windsor, commenting on how she personally feels rushed when occasions such as this are advertised way in advance. Just like Christmas, apparently after talking to people, it makes them feel rushed into getting stuff ready and buying gifts well ahead of time. Plus with kids, these days are rushed and hectic enough as it is. So why do stores advertise these events so early? After emailing a number of superstores, I received no reply, which was okay, and didn’t harm my research. I did talk to a former staff member who worked in this environment. I was informed that items are advertised and displayed in advance due to the company buying stock, and getting it early. From that response I simply added do they need to put it on display, or can they just store it somewhere until an appropriate time? As I expected, a confused answer was given, basically saying, ‘I don’t know’.
My second interest in this question, was the fact that I hear from certain people now that annually celebrated occasions such as Halloween, Christmas and Easter are over-rated. I tested a few things out that were playing on my mind, one of them was, to ask children what they like about Christmas and what it means to them. After doing research and asking a few people, the same response was given each time, ‘Presents and Gifts’. So is that all kids are taught in the world today? And I'll admit, when I was a child a few years ago, all I liked about Christmas was the gifts, all I liked about Halloween was getting dressed up and the candy, and all I loved about Easter was the Chocolate. I think many other older people believe that the true meaning behind all these occasions has been lost, and forgotten. Advertising showing off all these costumes, gifts, and chocolate eggs, months in advance, have only put one image into all the young minds today, and that is, what they see, is what they expect. It's a tough reality in the modern world, and how things have changed over the years. The sad thing is, time can never go back, and maybe this research and article will prove or at least provide additional information, that the history and purpose of these events, has been long lost and forgotten.

(Local) Severe thunderstorm warning

The Weather Network has announced severe Thunderstorm alert for the Windsor-Essex area this evening. So just be careful on what you are doing if going to be outdoors.

(Local) City Workers back on time

Its Tuesday, and many locals may have noticed that if your garbage is scheduled to be picked up on this day, it actually was! Yes, City workers are now back up to date and on time with picking up the garbage around the city, although recycled waste has not yet been collected. The City has announced that Recycled garbage has been scheduled for pick up in certain areas, and not all at one time. Also, Yard waste has actually been postponed, and will not be collected until September. Of course living in Windsor, progress on the Cities parks and recreational areas has been progressing well compared to last week. So finally, at least some of all this is back to normal. Next step, Recycled pickup to resume fully. Way to go City!

(Local) Confirmed: Heat to stay

Today is the first of a week of hot, hot, weather. Beginning Tuesday, Windsor and surrounding areas are expected to see temperatures soar to 30C, which will stay until next Tuesday. As TeenZ, and many other news networks have been reporting so far, that this summer has been one of the coldest to hit Windsor. So this month is seeming to produce the weather Windsorites have been missing out of since the summer began. Keep up to date with forecasts so you know for sure on what is happening in the local area on the Weather front at all times.

Canada Cell phone bills at a high

The Windsor Star has more details on this story.

Kathy Griffin on Larry King, what a farse

Larry King live tonight on CNN was filled in by Kathy Griffin, and what a farse it was. First up, she interviewed Joan Rivers, I really don't need to explain what happened with that, as its pretty easy to figure it out. Larry King Live is normally a show that discusses real topics, and interesting stories. Tonight's show was ruined by talking about personal wealth, self image and who attracts who. Hopefully CNN will figure things out for future shows when the legend of news is away.

FriendFeed the new Twitter? How many more?

Making news today, is the relatively unknown website, FriendFeed, which the Facebook company became partners with a short time ago. FriendFeed is an all-purpose program that can be used to update your Facebook status, post videos on You Tube, edit your Twitter account and more. However, the story out there right now, is that FriendFeed may be in competition with Twitter, the social networking site that shot to fame early this year after huge media coverage. FriendFeed was created by four former google employees back in 2007. It will be interesting to see how this 'so called' battle turns out. However how many more of these social networking sites does the world need. In fact, there is that many right now, that even me, an 18 year old cannot keep up with them all. Let alone, be a member of each.

(National Brief) Woman and dog killed by lightning

After the latest of thunderstorms to strike Ontario, it claimed the life of a 49-year old Woman whilst walking her dog, who was also killed. Also with this story, The Windsor Star has posted an amazing picture of lightning taken by the Ambassador Bridge, follow the link for more details and a look at the picture. http://www.windsorstar.com/news/Struck+lightning+woman/1878546/story.html

(Local) Halloween in stores already!?

Beleive it or not, Halloween is already on display in stores in Windsor, and probably across the country. The annual event will fall in just under 3 months time, on October 31st. So is this too much? This week ill be doing the first of the 'TeenZ Express' Special Reports, and the focus this week is about Special occasions celebrated around the world every year, and are they aver-rated. And if so, does too advanced adveritsing put customers off when walking around the store and seeing it every single day, months before the day actually arrives. Of course, the next major occasion after Halloween is Christmas, so watch out, within a few weeks the lights and snowmen will be on decoration in Major superstores. Make sure you take a look at the special report which will be posted on wednesday, and see what i found out on reasons for this, and what local residents feel about the situation of way in advanced advertising.

(Local) Windsor heatwave set to continue?

This weekends forecasts were actually correct. Saturday played host to rain throughout most of the day, getting a few slight periods where it stopped. Sunday however was very hot, and very humid. After speaking to one local, she stated 'this is typical weather for summer in windsor'. Maybe because it hasn't been to that extreme this summer so far, it hit locals with a shock. Forecasts predict today though will be warm with a high or 29C, and will see a few showers in the afternoon, and a possibility for thunderstorms tonight. It would be great if people could take some pictures of we do have one and send them to the magazine email.

(National News) B.C Fires not fully settled yet

Saturday morning news sources report that whilst the fires in British Columbia begin to settle down, it is far from over yet. Thousands of residents near the city of Fintry, B.C are still being ordered to stay away from their property, due to the high danger of the fires. The evacuations are currently affecting around 2,000 local residents in the surrounding area. Whilst another estimated 2,500 remain on evacuation alert. Which means, an evacuation of their property could be ordered at any sign of threat. News however is not as bad for others. Residents who live in the Bella Coola area, have been granted permission to return home. More on the story can be viewed on all national sources.

(Special Report) TeenZ provides opinions

A number of weekly, Special Reports are about to begin. The point of this is to get points of view, and opinions about curious thoughts, breaking news, and more. Here i beleive everybody has a right to voice their opinions. The topic this week is titled 'Why things come early to Stores'. My objective is to find the reason WHY international events such as Halloween, Christmas and Easter are advertised and displayed in major stores months prior. Also, are events like these over-rated? And if so, does too much and too lengthy publicity play a part in that?

For the report, it is my mission to visit a few selected stores in Windsor and ask reasons for this. Also, to speak to local business owners and residents' to give their points of view. The TeenZ Express special reports will be conducted every Wednesday, beginning this week (August 12th)

(International) Mom kills 8 by drink driving

In the State of New York, a drunk mom was the cause of 8 deaths, including herself, by driving northbound on a southband lane. According to police on the scene, details came out tonight that a broken empty bottle of Vodka was found in the car. This is crazy! It actually makes me angry that this happened. I don't care if she was drinking, she got what she deserved. However causing the deaths of other innocent people is not right. More details on this story will be updated on CNN and here on the magazine.

(Local brief) Windsor super-hero

Windsor star writes an article today saying Windsor has its own super-hero. Local comic book creator Tony Gray has made 'The Incredible Conduit'. Finally, maybe with all these superpowers we could use him as mayor. Be funny if a comic drawing could do better.

(Local) What was dumped into river?

On A-News last night a story was presented about someone videod dumping an unknown substance into the Detroit river. Apparently this happened east of Lauzon on riverside drive. A witness who was capturing the event, approached the guy and asked what he was dumping. No description of what it actually was, was given except that it turned the water black. So could this be oil? And thr question is, what could it do to the evironment and life in the water? All we know for sure is that the Environment agency are investigating the video.

(Local) City workers Lacking?

After reading on the Windsor star today, residents have been complaining about the amount of time it has taken for the City to recover from the 101 day strike which ended last week. It stated that only 15-20 percent of the Citys parks have been cut and looked after in a week. Garbage wasn't collected right away, and in some parts of Windsor, still hasn't. Clearly after 3 months, there would obviously been alot of clearing up to do, yet a week after the strike ended, many locals would have expected it to be back to normal by now. Definately city workers are taking their sweet old time returning the Rose City back to its usual image.

(News Brief) 4 Dead in gym shootout

The LA fitness just outside Pittsburgh witnessed an open shootout last night, killing 4 people. Reports say lights were turned off inside the gym, and around 50 ronds were fired, killing 3 women, before killing himself. Around 10 other people were said to be injured.

(National) B.C. continues to burn

The Province flag gives a true image of the state British Columbia is in right now. Fires continue to cause chaos on the west coast of Canada today. The situation is said, and obviously very dangerous at the present time. Last night, a 900-hectare fire raged through Mount Maclean. Causing wide concerns from locals in the area if there is an end in sight soon. Firefighters of the region stated they are trying to change the path of the fires, away from built up areas. However it is said to be 'Currently uncontrolable'. On monday, homes were evacuated near Bella Coola as the fires approached. Keep up to date with the story on all major news networks and media sources.

(Local) Windsor Pride 09

Only hours away lies Windsor Pride 2009. The 4 day event begins on Wednesday and will be expected to bring a crowd of visitors into Windsor from the surrounding areas. TeenZ Express Magazines' very own Michaek Otto will be down, covering the event and getting reports to post on the website. Also some pictures too. After the recent City Strike, which lasted 3 months, it will be great to see the City looking at its best for events like these. Lets just hope the weather holds up for the duration. On the last day of Windsor Pride week, will be the familiar parade. Hopefully there will be many people in attendance to the event and we hope to see you there!

(Local) So weather predictions were wrong?

Reading last week on The Weather Network, A-News, and on websites researching weather for the weekend just past for Windsor, they all said the same, a grim wet weekend, and will last untill wednesday. First of all, looking out my window right now, the sun is out and its nice and warm. And not counting the literal spit it gave last night, its been a total opposite weekend than forcast. I do beleive that is a problem alot of people think to themselves, how come weather broadcasters/researchers are wrong 85% of the time? Now i can understand long term forcasts can change, so if thats the case, why even do long term? When there is a good chance it will change. Anyway, its a good thing it didn't rain this weekend, as the Emancipation events and others took place Downtown. Windsor Pride 2009 begins tomorrow, so it would be great for the weather to stay as it is right now. In my eyes though i can see after i write this article, it will rain.

(Jackson Brief) Mom gets Custody

More updates in the world most dragged on story EVER! Michael Jacksons mother, Katherine Jackson today was granted full custody of his three children. Not in a bad way, but shes not the youngest of people, and when she dies, is all this going to happen again? Du-Du-Duuuuuuuh!

(National) Kids found locked in car

In the City of Abbotsford, British Columbia yesterday, a local newspaper reported that police found 2 children locked in a van, whilst their dad was drinking in the nearby bar. The kids were aged just 4 months and 2 years old. When local police entered the minivan, they found the kids with soiled diapers, and sweat dripping from their bodies. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and treated for dehydration. Their condition so far is said to be stable. Seriously, what kind of father would do this to his kids, and it will be interesting to find out what happens now. In the story there are no mentions of a mother, or if he has sole-custody of the two children. Either way, im sure that Childrens Aid or Social Services will be getting involved very soon.

Today, Canadian Prime Minister stated that he beleives the World is coping well with the current economic crisis. Actually saying, its basically over. Obviously he hasn't made a trip to Windsor recently. However ill get back to that in a moment. Harper said that the recovery from the situation remains extremely fragile. Here in Windsor, and in many other parts of the country, the affects of the stock market collapse can still be noticed. Windsor holds the highest unemployment rate in Canada. The Prime Minister predicted that the unemployment rate in Canada woud continue to rise. Which means Windsor could see worse to come. We will soon find out if the Countries leaders' predictions are correct.

(National brief) German Extradited

After fighting in court for 10 years, German businessman Karlheinz Schreiber has been sent back to Germany and loses his appeal. The 75-year old faces charges back home of fraud, bribery, tax evasion and corruption. What I really want to know is, how come it has taken so long to deport him? If it was just a minor theft I would understand.

(World Brief) U.S remains found

So after 18 years of speculations, the missing US Navy pilot said to be the first killed in the gulf war, has been found. Not alive. Capt Michael ''Scot'' Speicher was shot down flying an F/A-18 Hornet on the first night of action back in 1991. The discovery ends thoughts that he may have survived the crash after all these years. The story can been seen in full on cnn.com

(National Breif) Two Canadians die in blast

A sad story today of two Bestfriends, serving in Afghanistan who died together after being caught in an explosion. Our respects go out to the families, and soldiers out fighting the war.

Windsor Pride Week Approaches

Starting August 5th through th 9th, is Windsor's Pride week celebration. A bigger turnout is expected this year from the great support Winsor Pride is receiving from the rest of the city. The rainbow flag was raised at City Hall Square in ceremony to announce commencment of Pride 2009. This year's theme is dedicated to "shouting out, looking back, and moving forward." An event filled weekend is expected with Sandra Bernhard's peformance at Caesar's Windsor Friday night, following with a drag competition. Saturday includes a dance party for everyone attending the event and the weekend will conclude with the Gay Pride Parade on Sunday at noon along Campbell Ave. and Riverside Drive.

This year, Windsor has come even closer to the ongoing struggle for acceptance of gays and lesbians taking a step forard from just tolerance. “Discrimination continues, but we’re making headway. It’s not easy to be gay and that’s why we have these events.… The flag we raise today is always a symbol of equality." Throughout the remainder of the week stories will continue to appear on TeenZ Express, keep reading to find out how your Windsor will conduct Pride 2009. I will be covering the Parade as well as partaking in the events that take place this weekend. Hope you will make an appearance.

Also, down on the riverfront plaza, Emancipation weekend celebrations have begun. This will begin tonight (31st) and will end on Monday (3rd). (Local) Summer downpours to Continue?

Already, residents of Windsor-Essex have noticed that the summer of 2009, has not been the best. Not too long ago we reported that it has been one of the coldest summers on record for the Rose City.
On the Weather Network today, forcasts report that there will be more rain over the weekend and could last untill Wednesday. Hopefully the weather will not put a damper on the celebrations happening on the riverfront Plaza.

(World) Space Shuttle Lands

After 3 weeks on a mission, the Nasa space shuttle Endeavor lands safely at Kennedy Space Centre, Florida this morning. If you followed the news bulletins on this since the mission launch, you will know that during the mission there was a number of minor technical faults.
This is some good news and a great story actually. Its good to see normal people putting their lives on the risk and coming home safely and back to their families. More on this story can be seen on all major news netorks.

Wait, what? More? (Jackson)

So today, reports say Debbie Rowe, the 'wonderful' mother of Michael Jacksons kids, has decided NOT to fight for custody. WOO! Finally some good news in one of the most talked about topics of all time. So once again, attention has been taken away from Dr Conrad Murray, for now anyway. Off the sarcasm, this is still good news. I think in a lot of people's opinions, Ms Rowes' actions were uncalled for, and not the best thing to get publicity for. Maybe now the kids will be able to get on with their lives properly, and not be in the headlines every day like their father.

Brit Magazine slams Windsor!

Researching on the Windsor Star website this afternoon, a headline grabbed some attention. British magazine 'The Economist' reports in detail and a negative way of how the economy has affected Windsor. 'This can be noticed on Ouelette Avenue' states the article. It also described Windsor as going down like its U.S. neighbour, Detroit. After reading the article, yes sections were harsh towards our city, however all of it is true. As much as Windsorites may hate The Rose City being broadcasted in a negative way, everything in the article is correct, and Windsor has fallen, and does have the highest unemployment rate in Canada. As this may be a shellshock to residents and 'The Economist' readers across the pond, Windsor has suffered. Its a harsh reality locals must face.

Bruno sucks...oh and so does his movie! (Film Review)

-By Michael
The next Cohen instalment did not disapoint if you were expecting to see elements of film that would shock you and slightly want to make you vomit. This film almost could have made the genre of gay porn. 18A rated, this movie went up and over the top to embellish in the worse way possible the actions of a homosexual. Not to mention a "19" year old one. HA! First thing my company noticed was the unexpected ratio of males to females in the audience. A group of five males were easiest to spot upon entering the cinema. Regardless of its audience, I don't think this film was ment to insult or offend anybody viewing it, but I for one surely was offended. Humerous and laugh-out-loud? Yes, but also made me turn my head numerous times. And I'm gay!

Taking that into account, after the film ended, the first thing to come out of my mouth to the hetero guys I was with was, "I don't think I am gay anymore..." Obviously a joke, but it sends the message. This movie is probably the only gay themed movie that a hetero male and gay male could actually have the same opinion of. This "gay" movie combines comedy with a sense of reality TV. I am not sure what an expert movie critic or film analyst would think of what's hidden in this film, but it sure must have a point for how recockulous it was!

I would not recommend seeing it if you want to see a "good" movie for an enjoyable Tuesday night. If you are that curious as to how crazy it is, then by all means see it. But in that case, I do recommend seeing it on a Tuesday. I wouldn't have been happy paying a full $9.95 to see it any other night of the week. Coming to the end of our first official movie review, I leave you readers with, I guarentee you will laugh, but you may not walk away calling it a favorite. Those who have seen the movie, feel free to leave your comments and share your opinions.

(Jackson) Latest in land of Yawn

So is he trying to feed everyone a 'feel sorry' story now? According to CNN, reports come in that Micheal Jacksons private doctor, Conrad Murray, was suffering from money problem over the last few months. So he quit his job and practice to work for Jackson, being paid $150,000 a month. I really dont think his story is going to make people feel sorry for him. Is this a stunt to take the attention away from the drug scandal? To basically make a new headline they can concentrate on instead of his name being broadcast in a bad way on nearly every news network in the WORLD. Everyone is having money problems right now, its called a 'recession'. But being paid 150k a month, Dr Murray probably wouldn't know what that was. Money problems, yeah right.

Obama sees end of recession

U.S President Barack Obama, stated 'he sees the End of the current recession'. Good news to everybody i think. Although i think we all see an end to it...at somepoint. Maybe 2065, maybe lucky and have it end in the year 2040. Everyone sees and knows there will be an end at somepoint in the Earths future, but i think we are used to being like this now. Ever since the banks went down and all this started, many have been handling their money wisely. People seem to be managing, however there are many that are not. Alot of Canadians have recently noticed a lack of jobs on offer, especially here in Windsor. So when the economy does pick up again, of course lives are going to be brighter and happier, untill then, lets just hope Obama and crew make it happen sooner than everyone is predicting.

(News Breif) 14-foot Python found in Drain

In the town of Bradenton, Florida, a 14-foot Python was located in a storm drain. Not the most expected thing to find down one, however, it is Florida. Apparently there are many more loose in the State.

Can we just Peace Out?

I wrote an article on 'too much Jackson'. Again today, more of the same old news is all over CNN, MSNBC, BBC...surely there is a lack of interest in this now. Todays big update 'Yawn Yawn' is his private Doctor, dr Conrad Murray. See the story is on that much, people even know his doctors name. Anyway police are searching the doctors house today. Looking for more evidence to suggest he harmed the Megastar shortly before his death. As i said before, 3 weeks ago they found that he had taken, and kept in his house, a drug that shouldn't even be found out of a hospital. So, its taken them 3 weeks to pursue the suspicions of the Doctor, onto why he even had the drug. As more stories come in on this case, i will publish them more on the magazine, just as a personal experiment to see if you get bored too. I dont need to tell you the other news sites to visit, as you will find it everywhere.

A Teen for life

A Toronto teenager today was presented a life sentence for convincing her boyfriend to kill a 14-year old girl. Melissa Todorovic, 17, revealed that she may suffer from a personality disorder. No kidding. Now as i see this, she wanted her boyfriend to kill this girl, instead of doing it herself, thinking she wouldn't be repramanded. Now her boyfriend, still known as D.B, pleaded guilty to stabbing the victim 6 times at the request of his girlfriend. Now we obviously know who wore the pants in that relationship.
