(Special Report) TeenZ provides opinions

A number of weekly, Special Reports are about to begin. The point of this is to get points of view, and opinions about curious thoughts, breaking news, and more. Here i beleive everybody has a right to voice their opinions. The topic this week is titled 'Why things come early to Stores'. My objective is to find the reason WHY international events such as Halloween, Christmas and Easter are advertised and displayed in major stores months prior. Also, are events like these over-rated? And if so, does too much and too lengthy publicity play a part in that?

For the report, it is my mission to visit a few selected stores in Windsor and ask reasons for this. Also, to speak to local business owners and residents' to give their points of view. The TeenZ Express special reports will be conducted every Wednesday, beginning this week (August 12th)

(Business Review) Chatty Collection 08/21/09

For 14 years, high class, quality female fashion has been introduced to Windsor. Elaine Chatwood was born and raised in Blackpool, England, and later moved over to Canada. As a youngster, she was inspired to get into fashion, after going out on shopping trips with family and friends. In the first 3 years that Chatty Collection was open, it was located on Wyandotte & Devonshire, untill it moved to its current location on Ottawa Street. One of the key places for shopping in the City. Inside the store, you are greeted by high end fashion, which ranges to a 25-50yrs age group. However, Elaine did say that alot of older women are getting into fashion, seeing how the Fashion statements and industry is changing. Older want to be Younger. Elaine actually designs between 60-70% of the items for sale in the store. The rest are purchased from a clothing line, mostly all based in Canada. When asking what the busiest time of year for sales was, Elaine stated it was Spring/Fall. Due to the changes of clothes coming into the store. The current economic hard times for Windsor, has put a damper on the business and overall sales. However, that is most likely to pick up very soon. There is only one Chatty Collection store and it dedicates its services to the community of Windsor, Ontario. So please go and take a look, you will be amazed.

(Business Review) Timeless Treasures 07/31/09

Quality furniture and home decor, nested among chic, modern and surprising stores in the Walkerville area of Wyandotte st. Owner Laurean Stobbs started the business 9 years ago in November this year. Back in the early days, you would have found the store located on Ottawa St.
Upon entering the store, you are welcomed by calming music, and a bright atmosphere on the main floor. The room is full of everything you would want and need to put in your home. From modern, stylish dining sets, to an old antique record player. Plus all the small interesting items found on display.
A great greeting and friendly feature in the store, are the free refreshments always put out for customers. Today was chocolate brownies! The way the business works is simple. A customer will bring in an item they wish to sell, which Laurean will put on display, with a pricetag. When the item is sold, the profit is split 50/50. Which is easy to figure out the seller and Laurean both get half of the sale.
Whilst walking around the store, there are stairs which lead down into the basement of the building. This is an added bonus feature to the store, which had yet more great items for sale. A few grabbed the attention of us when exploring the store.
Overall the business is doing great, even if the economy has been badly affecting Windsor. And we encourage locals to go and check out the place. The store is located next to Jones & Co at 1747 Wyandotte St. E (519.977.1042). Pictures can be veiwed by the linked picture displayed below.
