(Local) Special Olympics joy in Windsor

Some good spirited sports fans have been out this weekend supporting the Provincial Special Olympics held in Windsor. Even though most of the events have been going on despite rain, everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves and it has been a great success. Reports on both the Windsor star and A-News have been keeping people up to date on what has been happening over the last few days the event has been taking place. Today there was some good news for Windsor Soccer fans. As they walked away with a gold medal in the A Division league at Mic Mac park. They defeated the Caboto Specials 3-2 to win the medal everyone is looking for. Softball event also saw LaSalle take away a well deserved Silver medal today also. Meanwhile Chatham taking the Gold medal.

(National) Whale impaled by Cruise ship

A baby Whale was found impaled on the front of a cruise ship earlier today. As the ship named 'princess' was docking in Vancouver, British Columbia, Onlookers were shocked at what they saw. Nobody onboard the ship was sure when the whale was hit. Although the Whale was hit, on baord the ship there is a Whale spotting policy, to help prevent incidents like this happening. The way it works is that crew members with stand on the bridge, and lookout for any of the Mammals. Obviously either they wasn't doing there job properly at this time, or it was a freak accident that they didnt see coming. Either way, its a shocking accident that could have been avoided. Who knows what caused this to happen.

(Weather) Vacate or Stay Home?

Windsor is really experiencing some strange, yet non-summer weather lately. Apparently this is one of the Coldest summers on record for the Rose city. So, is this affecting peoples summer plans? Are more people trying to get away for vacations? As you know the world is hardly the best at handling money right now, so therefore, will people be willing to risk travelling abroad even if money is tight in the average family home? During a recent edition the A-News at 11pm, an interview was conducted from a local beach, where normally this time of year, its crowds are drawn in, and the sun is beating down. However, on this particular day, it was the sight we have been seeing alot laely, very cloudy skies, rain, and very humid temperatures. Some days, not even comfortable to go out in, let alone stay outside. Families are trying to make the most of this summer, even if it isn't the best Windsor has had. Maybe the weather will pick up. Although from the image attatched courtesy of the Weather Network, doesn't look to likely yet.

(News Brief) WW1 Veteran Dies

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has released news that the Worlds only surviving World War one veteran has died at the age of 111. The British Soldier leaves a great legacy behind to his family, and i want to post this to let everyone know that we are grateful for his services.

Is there too much Jackson?

Micheal Jackson, i agree was a legend at his profession, and music wouldn't be how it is today, if it wasn't for this guy. Ever since his death, i can guarantee, that a week later of broadcasting the stroy on every news network in the World, it would be reported over and over again, for the next year. It seems to be going that way certainly. The latest news is about the Doctor the superstar had, now bein accused of manslaughter. Took them long enough you think? They wer saying even 3 weeks ago that the drug shouldn't even be found outside of a hospital, that would raise suspicions for me right there. Anyway, is there too much Micheal Jackson going on right now? They still have memorial shows airing on BET, MuchMusic etc...man was a legend, however its becoming bigger than Elvis news. Give me your opinions either here, email or on the facebook group.

Strike Over!

Finally Windsor is Getting back to normal! After a few hours of descusions and voting today at the Caboto Club on Tecumseh Road, Cupe 82 and 543 agreed to a deal to end the 3 Month Strike. This comes on the 100th day of striking in the city, a day longer than the famous 1945 strike. So, a new piece of history is made. So what happens now? Of course the good side is Windsor is now going to be back to normal, and people will actually be able to walk along the River without looking at knee high weeds and grass that has been abandoned for over 12 weeks. However there is one downside to this for reporters and media, got to find another news story to take over their time. Sure that will not be a problem though.

Is It Over?

After 48 hours of negotiations and uninterupted talks, Windsor maye ventually be getting back to normal. 4pm tomorrow is the scheduled time of a meeting between City workers and CUPE, where an offer will be made for the strike to eventually be over. It will arrive on the 100th day of striking, which is one day longer than the 1945 strike in Windsor. Therefore meaning this one is down in the history books. Hopefully Windsor will get back to normal very soon. However Toronto, Montreal and other Canadian cities are going through what The Rose city endured over the last 3 months. So perhaps Windsor will be fine again, but other cities still suffer. Keep reading as we will bring all the news to the site.

Chris Brown Begs

Okay, so...he beats his girl, one of the biggest stars in the world (Rihanna), goes to court and then a few weeks later, releases a self-recorded video begging for fans' forgiveness. So is he just having the biggest guilty feeling of his life? Or is he finally noticing his reputation has gone right down the shoot, probably along with his pride. Personally, i like Chris Brown, his musics cool, and maybe he was just going through a rough patch. Even if his ex Rihanna is more successful than him, in my opinion anyways. If you haven't yet seen the video, check it out on you tube, and if you have any opinions and thoughts about it, send them to the email and we will post them on the site.

Boarding Now... All Animals

So watching Late Night with Conan O'Brien last night, he told a story about a Pet Airlines. Immediately, being the joker that he is, i thought it was some kinda of skit, however, researching it today, ITS TRUE. The Airine operates between New York, Chicago, Denver, Washington D.C and Los Angeles. If you really are amazed by this, you should be. The Airline carries pets only, which i think is a really sweet idea, although i have a few thoughts about it. I researched and noticed that the prices are around the same as it would to take pets on a major US Airline, however how many people will trust a brand new company, with their pets, on there own airplane. Atleast when they are on th same aircraft as you, you know that they are safe, and atleast, with you. The company has not been in operation long. For me personally, there would be a trust issue on this, and if anything did happen to your animal on the journey, what would happen? A refund? This is like the easiest company in the world to Sue. I can just immagine the forms you may have to sign as an agreement before you leave your pet with the company. Im going to keep reading about this company and see what actually happens with it. You never know, it may actually take off!

Pick it Up

Like thousands of other residents of Windsor, im sure the garbage not being picked up is now like...pathetic. Sad thing is, its been so long since it was last collected, we are getting used to disposing of it ourselves. Many have probably even forgotten what a garbage truck looks like. Now understand both sides of the argument...i think...anyways, all im saying is its getting a little old news and boring now. And surely, those who work for the city and who are protestingoutside City hall everyday are getting sick of there own garbage laying there for weeks on end? I think its time they all come to an agreement now, fairly, and let Windsor get back to normal everyday life. If you have thoughts on this, email us and we will post your opinions.
