(Local) Construction coming to end

Since April, the core of Downtown Windsor has been a huge building site. Now, its all coming to an end. The main goal of the construction is to turn Downtown area into a more 'Green' environment. Locals seem to have adjusted to the traffic detours on Ouellette between Park and University. Neighbours from across the river arriving through the tunnel seemed to get a little confused, however its all coming to an end soon. Downtown Windsor will be fully operational again.

SPECIAL REPORT: Windsor-Beirut. Why?

Boarding now, one of the biggest airlines in the world, to Beirut. A familiar sound travellers could be hearing at Windsor Airport soon. A proposed operation between the Rose City and the Middle East could come into affect if it gets the green light. So what's the need for this service? Why to Beirut? This article will explain all.
So Mayor Eddie Francis recently barred media from the Airport, whilst meetings were taking place, discussing this operation. A direct service from a small city, population of around 230,000, to one of the main destinations of the Middle East. Confused? Well Mayor Francis noted one of the reasons for this opportunity is to help the high population of Middle Eastern residents in Michigan. Okay, why is 'Windsor's' mayor concerned about a state in another country? Now already a lot of controversy has been surrounding the Mayor, due to bad decisions and much more. Why would he want to use tax payers' money to do something that he basically said, is helping another place. The only affect its going to have on Windsor is more traffic, noise and Air pollution. 3 big negatives.
According to the Windsor Star, 3 major international airlines are already interested in operating this service. One of them being Emirates Airlines, who's operations are more seen at New York JFK, or London Heathrow. Now little old Windsor? The current proposal is around 3-4 operations per week, plus to turn YGQ into a main Air cargo hub.
Now really, could all this just be for publicity? To get Windsor in the news? For a not so huge City operations would be more appropriate to Vancouver, Calgary, or Winnipeg on the Air Canada Jazz planes, not tearing up the world by polluting the air with Air Cargo, or international flights to the other side of the world. Windsor isn't ready for that yet.

(Local) Does Windsor have a litter problem?

Windsor is a great city, but is lacking one thing. Clean streets. Before and even after the city strike, Windsor has had a litter problem, and it doesn't matter which block you are on. Now some areas of the city are much cleaner than others. But how should a problem like this be tackled to help improve Windsor's image? Many people who live in big cities across the country, probably assume it is the city workers' job to pick up litter. However, is it really? Their job is to keep the city running smoothly and clean, therefore, yes, they pick up after people. Maybe this needs to be dealt with. Main culprits of the litter are chains such as McDonald's, Burger King, and worst of all Tim Hortons. And the funny thing is, on each cup, it states 'please do not litter'. Tougher actions need to be taken, and a wider awareness by Police or City workers may help cut down the problem.

(Money) 90 percent of bills carry cocaine

A research group in the US carried out a test and found that around 90 percent of bills in the country carry traces of cocaine. This is due to the fact that over a period of 20 months, money is moved around, given as change, used again, always by different hands, carrying different germs etc. Maybe this is an explanation of why some people are so addicted to money.

A bid for Local Businesses

Since the beginning of 'TeenZ', I have been looking at small local businesses in Windsor, which I visit and write an article about the next day. One key thing I have noticed when walking into the stores are things you see that you wouldn't always find in a major superstore. If you haven't heard of it already, there is a booklet available for free called MUG (Modern Urban Guide). In this booklet you will find stores in the Windsor area, their location, and a small information section on what the business is all about. You will be surprised at what you can find when you put your mind to it. And I'll be the first to admit, most of the businesses in the booklet I didn't even know existed. So it's very cool to walk into a place not really knowing what to expect. As for superstores such as Wal-Mart, Zellers etc...they all look the same, and sell the same. Maybe that's one reason why some people don't like going shopping? I don't know about Canada yet, but in other countries, small local businesses are dying out. Let's not make that happen here too.

(Money) Recession Affecting Health

The Canadian Medical Associations latest report claims that the current economic crisis is affecting many Canadians' health. A survey containing 4,000 Adults from across the country, noticed that due to worries about money and costs, many were cancelling dentist appointments, hospital check-ups and more. All due to financial concern. It found around 23 percent of volunteers to the survey, were losing sleep by worrying what money situation they will be in soon. After reading this information, I noticed a comment at the bottom of the screen related to this. Clearly stating that 'Its all the Governments Fault', 'Canadians are over-taxed'. I know many people will agree with these comments, and yes it's playing a huge part on the money worries that citizens of the country have. It's a guarantee that this is happening and affecting people in other countries around the world too. It would be great to get readers' opinions on this story, and send me your thoughts on what you think is the cause, and discuss your money problems.
